Birthdays
As we continue to change and evolve we recognize that many of our students are dealing with significant food allergies or dangerous medical issues such as childhood diabetes. The district has made some adjustments to our policies and practices this year to be able to provide our students with a safer school environment.
We welcome parents working with school staff to provide a special recognition of their child’s birthday. However, with the beginning of this school year, we will not participate in celebrating birthdays with food of any kind, including cupcakes, packaged sweets or other food or beverage treats.
Building principals will work with their staff to share special recognition of each child’s birthday, and parents are encouraged to share reasonable non-food alternatives for celebrating their child with classmates. Non-food alternatives could include:
Please contact your child's teacher ahead of time to schedule a birthday.

Field Trips
The third graders will be going on two field trips this year. Students will get to learn the history of our community on a trip to downtown Worthington and explore a natural wonder called the Ohio Caverns. Both field trips will be in May. You will receive more information as the dates get closer.
If you are planning on volunteering for either field trip, you need to go to the Worthington Board of Education office at 200 E. Wilson Bridge Road to get a picture ID and a background check. This is a district requirement and mandatory for all parent volunteers and chaperones.
